Lake County Booking Reports Database

Lake County booking reports are accessible through the Sheriff's Office online portal. The county uses a CitizenRIMS system that shows current inmates and booking data. One thing to know right away: Lake County does not post booking photos of arrestees due to a federal court ruling. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals case, Houston v. Maricopa, led the sheriff to stop publishing arrest photos. But you can still find names, charges, and other booking details for Lake County through the online portal or by calling the jail.

Lake County CitizenRIMS portal for searching booking reports

This is the main online tool for checking Lake County jail bookings. Booking photos are not posted due to the 9th Circuit ruling.

Because of the Houston v. Maricopa ruling from the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, the Lake County Sheriff's Office stopped posting photos of arrestees online. This is a federal court decision that affects how some California counties display booking data. You can still get names, charges, dates, and bail amounts from the Lake County system. Just don't expect to see a booking photo alongside the record. If you need more information than what the online portal shows, call the Hill Road Correctional Facility at (707) 262-4240.

Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility

The Hill Road Correctional Facility at 4913 Helbush Drive in Lakeport is where all Lake County bookings take place. When someone is arrested anywhere in the county, they come to this jail. Staff process the booking by recording personal information, charges, arresting agency, bail amount, and the time of arrest. Fingerprints are taken. A booking photo is taken too, even though it is not published online. All of this goes into the Lake County booking report.

Lake County sits in the northern part of the state, centered around Clear Lake. The county has a mix of small communities including Lakeport, Clearlake, and Kelseyville. Local police departments and the sheriff's office all bring arrested people to the same facility. That means one database holds all the Lake County booking reports.

Lake County Booking Records and the Law

California's Public Records Act makes Lake County booking reports public. Government Code Section 7923.600 requires law enforcement to release booking data including names, charges, bail amounts, arrest times, and custody locations. The Lake County Sheriff must comply. The 9th Circuit ruling on booking photos does not change the requirement to share other booking data. Everything except the photo remains fully available.

State law also restricts full criminal histories. Under Penal Code Section 13300, comprehensive criminal records need authorization or a personal DOJ request. A Lake County booking report covers just one arrest and is public. A full criminal history covers a person's entire record statewide and is restricted. Know the difference before requesting records.

Additionally, Penal Code Section 13665 puts limits on law enforcement sharing booking photos on social media for nonviolent crimes. This state law works alongside the 9th Circuit ruling that already shapes Lake County's approach to booking photos.

Lake County Custody Alerts

California VINE provides free custody change alerts for Lake County. Register with an offender's name or ID and choose phone, email, or text alerts. When the person is released or transferred, VINE notifies you. This works well alongside the online roster. Check the roster for current booking data. Use VINE for release notifications. Both are free.

State Records for Lake County Cases

People convicted in Lake County and sent to state prison appear in the CIRIS database from CDCR. That system shows their prison location and hearing dates. For a personal criminal history check, the California DOJ Record Review costs $25 and requires Live Scan fingerprints. Neither of these replaces the local Lake County booking report. They serve different purposes.

Note: The DOJ public records process gives agencies 10 days to respond to information requests, and copying fees of 10 cents per page apply.
